영어 기도문 - 죄 고백 하기

영어로 기도하는 것은 어렵다. 그렇지만 매일 반복적인 연습이 있다면 충분히 가능하다. 특히 정말 기독교인이라면 그 안의 신앙고백을 하는 것은 숨쉬는 것 만큼 당연하고 자연스러운 일이다. 단, 기도할때 쓰이는 '영어 표현'을 몰라서 일 것이다. 그래서 정리해 보았다. 아래의 기도문장들은 리디머 장로 교회 Redeemer Presbyterian Church 에 출석하며 습득한 것임을 밝혀 둔다.

O most merciful God, who pardons all who truly repent and turn to you: we humbly confess our sins. We have not loved you with a pure heart. Neither have we loved our neighbors as ourselves. We have not done justly, nor loved mercy, nor walked humbly with you, our God. Have mercy upon us, O Lord, according to your loving-kindness. According to the multitude of your tender mercies, blot out our iniquity. Create in us a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within us. Cast us not away from your presence and take not your Holy Spirit from us. Restore to us the joy of our salvation and uphold us with your Spirit. We ask this in Jesus name. Amen.

오 은혜로우신 하나님, 회개하는 우리를 받아주시는 하나님. 이제 다시 우리의 죄를 겸손히 고백합니다. 당신을 순수한 마음으로 사모하지 못했습니다. 또한 우리의 이웃을 내 몸같이 사랑하지 못했습니다. 우리는 의롭게 행동하지 못했고, 자비롭지 못했고, 당신과 동행하지 못했습니다. 우리에게 자비를 베풀어 주시옵소서. 오 주님 당신의 사랑으로, 당신의 온유한 자비로 우리의 잘못을 사하여 주시옵소서. 하나님, 우리 안에 깨끗한 마음을 창조하시고, 우리가 의에 영으로 새로와지게 하여 주시옵소서. 우리를 당신품에서 떨어지게 하지 마옵시고, 성령을 제하지 말아주시옵소서. 우리에게 구원의 기쁨을 소생시키시고, 당신의 영으로 세워주시옵소서. 예수님의 이름으로 구합니다. 아멘.

Gracious Father, we confess that we have longed too much for the comforts and treasures of this world rather than for your enduring Kingdom. We have loved the gifts more than the Giver. In your mercy, help us to see that the things we strive for are shadows, but you are the substance; that they are quicksand, but you are a mighty rock; that they are shifting, but you are an anchor. Thank you for forgiving us through the riches of Christ and freeing us to live a new life, faithfully devoted to him. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

은혜로우신 아버지, 우리가 하나님 나라를 위해 살지 못하고 이 세상의 부와 편안함을 구하며 살았음을 고백합니다. 우리는 주기보다는 받기를 원했습니다. 당신의 자비로, 우리가 구했던 것들이 그저 허상이었음을 보게 하여주시옵소서. 주님만이 변하지 않는 본질임을 보게 하여주시옵소서. 그리스도의 은혜로 우리를 용서해주심에 감사드립니다. 당신께 헌신하며 믿음으로 새로운 삶을 살게 해주심에 감사드립니다. 예수님의 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.
