복음이 왜 이렇게 늦은겁니까?

매트와 그의 아내 베가는 중국 선교사 였는데요. 몇 년전에 있었던 이야기를 제게 들려줬어요.

Matt and his wife Becca used to be missionaries in China, and he shared a story with me from years and years ago.

 

그들은 중국에 산지족에게 복음을 전했었는데, 정말 놀라웠다고 했어요.

They took the Gospel to this remote people group in China, and it was amazing.

 

그리스도의 복음을 전했고요. 그곳에 모든이들이 복음을 들었다고 했죠. 예수를 전혀 모르는 사람들이요. 그들이 듣기 시작했었죠.  

Like they shared the Good News of Christ and all of these people respond to the Gospel, never heard of Jesus. And they start responding. 

 

그건 마치 하나님께서 성령을 부어주시는 초자연적인 역사와 같았다고 했어요.

It was just like God poured His Spirit out and did something supernatural. 

 

그리고 복음을 받아들인 사람 중에 한 명에 마을의 장로였는데요. 거기에 있던 미국인들과 이야기를 나눴습니다.

And one of the guys that responded was the village elder. And so he was talking with the Americans that were there.

 

그 마을의 장로님이 예수의 삶과 죽음 그리고 보활에 대해 이야기를 듣더니 이렇게 말했어요. "오, 맙소사. 이 모든게 언제 일어난겁니까?"

그가 물었어요. "이게 언제 일어난거죠? 한 2주 전에 일어났나요? 한달전에 일어났나요?"

And this village elder after hearing about the life, the death, the Resurrection of Jesus, goes, "Oh, my gosh, when did this happen?"  He said, "When did this happen? Was this like two weeks ago? Was this like a month ago?"

 

그리고 미국 선교사들이 그 장로님을 보고 말했죠, "2천년 전에 일어난 사건입니다"

And these Americans looked at this village elder and said, "This happened 2,000 years ago" 

 

그랬더니 그 장로님이 고개를 숙이더니 그들을 쳐다보며 이렇게 말했답니다. "그런데 왜 이렇게 오래 걸린겁니까?"

And Matt said that this guy's face fell and he looked and he asked them, "What took you so long?"

 

우리가 정말로 복음에 관심이 있다면, 우리는 나가야 합니다.

If we really care, we will go.

그렇습니다. 우리는 복음을 땅끝까지 전해야 합니다. 하나님께서 우리 믿는 자에게 주신 사명을 감당하길 원합니다. **
