Can you name one example of one thing that’s ever make it out for free by the government? Because there's nothing that’s free. It’s paid for by somebody, at some point, some level of distribution.

정부에 의해 그런 약이 무료로 배포되었던 사례, 한 가지만 말해줄 수 있나요? 왜냐하면 공짜는 없거든요. 결국 누군가가, 어떤 시점에, 어떤 수준으로 배포를 하겠다는.. 대가를 지불해야 할 겁니다.

He could afford to pay for that, right?

How did Jeff Bezos get his money?

제프 베조스 회장이 그 돈을 어떻게 벌었는데요?

By exploiting his laborers and not paying them..   

노동자들을 착취하고 제대로 돈도 안주고 그렇게 벌었잖아요..

What if he’s exploiting and why do they work for him?

그가 만약 착취했다면, 왜 사람들이 그를 위해 일할까요?

Because they don't have another opportunity.

그거야 사람들이 다른 일을 할 기회가 없으니까 그렇죠.

But there’s more job openings, available in America, then actually people we have to fill the job. There's seven million job openings. People at Amazon say they love their jobs, their wages are going up again, they get health care, they get health insurance, they get promoted. Average wages at Amazon is $30 an hour.

하지만 지금 미국에는 많은 일자리들 있어요. 그리고 사람들은 그 직장을 가질 수 있습니다. 700만개나 되는 일자리가 있어요. 그리고 아마존에 일하는 사람들은, 자신의 직장을 사랑하고, 월급도 올라가고, 건강관리도 받고, 의료보험도 받고, 승진도 한단 말이죠. 그들은 최소 시간당 $30는 받고 있습니다.

I mean.. you cannot honestly believe like.. can you really in good faith to say that that's a good job that people like is..

So, Starbucks that's a billionaire. You know, how rich Howard Schultz is. He’s worth five billion dollars. So you're participating in his exploitation.

스타벅스는 억만장자 기업이에요. 하워드 슐츠(스타벅스CEO)가 얼마나 부자인지 아세요? 가치가 5조나 됩니다. 그러면 당신은 지금 그 착취에 동참하고 있는거네요?

Starbucks has better working conditions for their employees though.

하지만 스타벅스는 노동자들에게 더 좋은 환경을 제공하고 있어요.

Well, how do you know that?

그걸 어떻게 아세요?

Because they have like a fifteen dollar minimum wage.

왜냐하면 그들의 시급이 최소 $15는 넘으니까요.

So, wait. The Starbucks billionaire good. Amazon billionaire bad. Just so we’re sure.

잠깐만요. 억만장자 스타벅스는 괜찮고, 억만장자 아마존은 나쁘다고 말하는 건가요? 맞나요?

I would not like either them to be billionaires.  

저는 둘다 억만장자가 되는걸 원하지 않아요.

Then why are you buying Starbucks? You're participating in the market economy.

그런데 왜 스타벅스를 사먹는거죠? 지금 시장경제에 참여하고 있는거라구요.

Well, it's impossible to buy things without participating in the market economy.

왜냐면 시장경제에 참여하지 않고 물건을 사는건.. 불가능하니까요.

Hold on a second. You could have went to a farmers market. You could have bought something outside..

잠깐만요.. 전통시장에 갈 수도 있었잖아요. 밖으로 가서 살 수도 있었어요..

There’s no farmers market here.

여긴 전통시장이 없어요.

There’s no local coffee in Columbus at all?

여기 콜럼버스에는 동네 커피가게도 전혀 없다구요?

There is no non-billionaire coffee distributors?

작은 커피 가게가 없단 말이죠?

없어요. 제 생각에는..

You could have gotten a Keurig.. You could have gotten local.. 

Keurig 커피를 마셨어야죠. 지역상점에 가거나..

You could have gotten ‘That Guy doughnuts’. They don’t serve Starbucks coffee. The point is it's very easy to critic billionaires while you swish your Starbucks latte back and forth made possible by a guy that wanted to become a billionaire. Why? Because of profit motive.

'That Guy Doughnut'을 먹었어야죠. 그 사람들은 스타벅스 안 마시잖아요. 요점은, 억만장자를 비난하는건 정말 쉽다는 거죠, 그 억만장자가 만든 스타벅스 라떼를 홀짝홀짝 마시면서 말이예요. 왜 그럴까요? 바로 이윤동기 때문이죠.   

This was made possible by the workers who made it, not by some guy.

이 커피를 마실수 있는건 이걸 만든 노동자들이 있기 때문이에요. 그 사람 때문이 아니구요.

Well, no, it's actually made possible by you, the consumer. The workers wouldn't have a job if you didn't buy their product. And guess what? It took Howard Schultz to risk everything to take out two mortgages on his house to start Starbucks in Seattle on a total idea when people thought he was nuts and crazy. So you can sip your latte and tell me how much you hate capitalism.

아니요. 이게 만들어진건 바로 당신 같은 소비자가 있기 때문이에요. 당신이 이걸 구매하지 않았다면, 노동자들의 직장은 없었을거에요. 그거 아세요? 하워드 슐츠는 시애틀에서 스타벅스를 시작하기 위해 그의 집까지 저당잡히며 모든 것을 걸고 시작했어요. 사람들은 모두 그가 미쳤다고 했었죠. 그리고 이제 당신은 그 라떼를 홀짝이면서.. 자본주의가 얼마나 싫은지를 저에게 말하고 있네요.
