There's another angle of this which I will address and that is.. These emergent churches are going to produce a generation of people who actually will not be able to handle the challenge of Islam and other major world religions.

다른 각도에서 말씀드리자면, 이 새롭게 부상하고 있는 교회들은 이슬람교와 다른 주요 종교들의 도전을 실제로 감당하지 못하는 성도들을 만들어 낼 것이라는 겁니다.  

They will not be able to handle it. And my wife and I were having dinner with a very notable gentleman. I shall leave a name.

그런 성도들은 이슬람을 감당하지 못할겁니다. 한번은 저와 제 아내가 매우 유명한 어떤 분과 저녁을 하고 있었는데요.

But he was he says.. He communicates to more people across television than anybody else in the world at any on any given day.

그가 말하기를.. 자신은 TV를 통해서 그 어떤 사람들보다도 많은 사람들과 소통을 한다고 그러더군요.

And they won't say too much more. But sitting across the table and he said he’d just been talkin to Muslim’s call and came away quite impressed with the fact that he had not known that there was really not that much of a difference between Islam and Christianity.

그때 그렇게 많은것을 이야기하진 않았지만.. 아무튼 그는 무슬림의 부르심에 대해서 이야기를 하고 있었는데.. 그는 이슬람과 기독교 사이에 다른점이 없다는 사실을... 사람들이 모른다는 것에 놀랐다고 말했습니다.

So my wife and I were having dinner with them and my wife is very very well controlled and her expressions and I thought she was gonna choke at that moment. I had to just turn over to her and calm her down. I said that why did you say that?

그때 저와 제 아내는 그들과 함께 저녁을 먹고 있었는데.. 제 아내가 아주 아주 잘 참아주었어요. 아내는 그 순간 숨넘어갈것같은 표정이었죠. 아내를 좀 진정시킨후에.. 제가 그 분께 ‘왜 차이점이 없다고 생각하냐고’ 물었습니다.

He said well, you know he talked about all the points of agreement we have and so on. I said well, let’s go from here. They don't believe we have the Bible. The New Testament is lost. They don't believe Jesus is Son of God. They don't believe He died on the Cross. They don't believe He rose again from the dead. They don't believe He's coming again.

그랬더니 그 사람은 성경의 비슷한 점들 등 이것저것 이야기했죠. 그래서 제가 답했습니다. ‘제가 다른점을 좀 말해볼게요. 이슬람은 기독교의 성경을 믿지 않습다. 신약성경도 믿지 않구요. 예수님을 하나님의 아들로 믿지도 않습니다. 그리고 그분이 십자가에 죽었다가 죽음에서 부활하신것도 믿지 않아요. 또한 그가 다시 재림할 것도 믿지 않지요’ 라고 말했죠.

Do you think there's a difference between what they believe and what we do?

그가 말하기를, '당신은 무슬림과 기독교 믿음의 차이가 있다고 생각하십니까?'라고 묻더군요..

I said they don't have the Gospel. But you know, this is the problem. The Muslims have shown us up. We don't know what we believe.

저는 ‘그들에겐 복음이란게 없다’고 말했습니다. 그거 아십니까? 이건 정말 큰 문제입니다. 무슬림들이 우리가 지금 어떤 상태인지를 보여줬습니다. 우리는 지금 우리가 뭘 믿는지를 모릅니다.

When they present their ideas to an average young Christian going to one of these emergent churches. One of the most prominent of those churches draws about 20,000 on Sunday.

무슬림들이 ‘요즘 새롭게 등장하는 교회에 가는 젊은 크리스천’에게 이슬람을 전파할때..  그 교회는 주일에 2만명은 모이는 그런 큰 교회죠.

You can read his book. In that entire book of having a better life now and best life now and so on. There is not one mention of the Cross in it.

여러분들도 그 교회 목사의 책을 읽어봤을 겁니다. ‘긍정의 힘’, ‘최고의 삶’인지 그런 책들 말이죠. 그런데 그 안에는 십자가에 대한 언급이 단 한곳도 없습니다. 

There is no Gospel there. And so you know along with all the other compromises we're going to be shown up. And the whole idea of RC here you can show counterfeit if you do not know the genuineness. And I think that's a big price we are going to pay very dearly as a result of this kind of lack of proper teaching.

그 책 속엔 복음에 대한 내용이 없어요.  그러한 모든 타협들을 통해, 우리가 누구인지 드러날 겁니다. 진짜가 무엇인지 모른다면, 우리는 가짜를 보여줄 수도 있는 겁니다. 그리고 정말 진정한 가르침이 없다면 그 결과로 우리는 값비싼 대가를 치를 것이라고 저는 생각합니다.  

Just recently Ravi.. uh, I saw a television preacher whose name I won't mention to protect the guilty. He made this statement.

최근에 말이죠.. 라비 목사님, 제가 TV 설교를 봤는데.. 그 설교자 이름은 보호를 위해 말하지 않겠습니다.  그가 이런 말을 했습니다.             

And it takes a lot to shock me in this damage But he said I don't care who you are, what you have done or who you have done it with. God is not angry at you.

그리고 그게 저에게 정말 충격이었죠. 그가 말하길, ‘여러분이 누구인지는 상관없습니다, 무슨 일을 저질렀든 혹은 누구와 그것을 했는지는 상관없습니다. 하나님은 당신에게 화내지 않으십니다.

What does that have to do with the New Testament view of God of sin of the Cross? I mean why would anybody need to come to Christ if God’s not angry.

그러면 십자가와 죄, 신약의 하나님의 관점은 뭐가 되는 겁니까? 제 말은 하나님의 진노가 없다면.. 우리 죄를 위해 돌아가신 그리스도가 왜 필요한 겁니까?

 And where the Gospel talks about being saved from the wrath that is to come. We don't believe in the wrath of God anymore. That's something that has to go and compatible with postmodern thinking.

복음은 곧 다가올 심판으로부터 우리를 구원하는 이야기입니다. 하나님의 진노를 믿지 않는다는 것은 포스트모던의 생각들과 타협하는 것을 의미한다고 생각합니다.
