트럼프 연설을 통해본 'would'

미국인이 가장 흔하게 사용하는 단어중에 하나 'would'. 토론과 화술의 달인 '도널드 트럼프' 대통령은 어떻게 사용했을까? 들어가기 앞서 would의 가장 많이 사용되는 2가지 뜻을 살펴보자.

1. Why would I do that? 내가 왜 그러겠어? (그럴리가 없지)

2. Why would you do that? 너 왜 그랬어? (도무지 이해가 안돼)

트럼프 대통령은 늘 쉬운 영어를 선택합니다. 가급적 전문용어를 사용하지 않고, 일상 대화에 사용하는 언어들을 구사합니다. 개인적으로 이것은 그의 전략이라고 생각하며, 가능하면 모든 사람이 그의 스피치를 친숙하고 이해하기 쉽게 만들기 위해 이러한 전략을 사용한다고 생각합니다. 앞으로도 종종 그의 스피치를 통해 영어를 다뤄보려고 합니다. 결국 언어라는 건 반복하고 반복해서 습득해야 하는 거니까요. @
