기독교-무신론자가 되지 마세요. '기독교-무신론자'는 누구일까요?

Don't be a Christian Atheist. What is a Christian Atheist?

 

이들은 하나님을 믿는다고 말하지만, 그분이 존재하지 않는것처럼 사는 사람들이죠. 빠르게 예를 들어보겠습니다.

It's somebody who says they believe in God, but they live as if He didn't exist. Let me tell you a quick story. 

 

새로운 건물을 구매한 목사님이 있었습니다. 그런데 바로 옆에 술집이 있었죠. 건물을 사고 첫번째 주일에 교회로 갔는데, 창문이 깨져있는 것을 목사님이 발견합니다.

There was a pastor who bought this new building and it was right next to a bar. And on their first Sunday, he walked into church and he realized that one of the windows was broken. 

 

분명히 토요일 전날 밤에, 술집 밖에서 술취한 2명의 남자들의 싸움이 있었죠. 그리고 그들이 그 건물을 파손한 겁니다. 그 목사님은 정말 화가 났습니다. 그 건물은 완전 새 것이었거든요. 그래서 목사님은 교인들에게 '저 술집이 못 닫게 해달라고 기도하세요'라고 한 겁니다.

Apparently the night before on a Saturday night, there was a brawl outside of the bar two people got really drunk. And they damaged their property. The pastor got really upset. It was a brand-new building. So he called his church to pray that the bar would close down.

 

한 달이 지난 후, 그 술집은 문을 닫았고 그 술집 주인은 교회를 상대로 고소했습니다. 술집 주인은 판사에게 말합니다. "그 교회의 목사가 우리 술집이 문을 닫도록 기도했습니다. 그리고 이렇게 되었습니다" 

About a month later, the bar closed down and the bar owner took it to court. And he said to the judge, "This pastor in his church prayed that our bar closed down and it did."

 

그러자 목사님은 판사를 바라보며 말합니다. "솔직히, 전 정말 그렇게 될 줄 몰랐습니다"

The pastor then looks at the judge and says, "To be honest with you, I didn't think it actually work"

 

그리고 판사가 이렇게 말합니다. "기도의 힘을 믿는 술집 주인과 믿지 않는 목사님이 있다는 것이 얼마나 아이러니한가!"

And the judge says this, "How ironic is it that we have a bar owner who believes in the power of prayer and a pastor who does not."

 

저는 여러분이 기독교-무신론자가 되는 걸 원치 않습니다. 우리는 하나님의 말씀을 바라보며, 만약 하나님이 말씀하신 것이 그렇게 되리라 믿는 크리스천이 되길 원합니다. 그리고 그 말씀 위에서 살아가십시오. 

I don't want you to be a Christian Atheist. We have to be Christians who look at the Word of God and say if God says it, I want to put my faith in it. And build my life upon it.
