How can you believe in something you've never seen before?

한번도 본 적이 없는 것을 어떻게 믿을 수 있을까요?

 

Do you believe in gravity? You can't see gravity, but you know it's there because of the effects, right?

'중력'을 믿으시나요? 중력을 볼 수는 없지만, 그 효과 때문에 중력이 있다는 건 알죠. 그렇지 않나요?

 

Now, some may say this is just a really poor excuse to prove the existence of God, but I wanna just bring you back to the basics.

자, 어떤 사람들은 이런 식으로 하나님의 존재를 증명하는 논리가 형편없는 변명이라 말할지도 모르겠네요. 하지만 저는 여러분을 기본으로 데려가고 싶습니다. 

 

I believe in God, not because religion was forced onto me. I believe in God because I've seen the effects of Him, but then that will lead people to say, 'Well, you just have faith'. 'You just have faith that there is a God out there.'

저는 하나님을 믿는데요. 종교로서 강요되어서 믿는게 아닙니다. 저는 하나님을 믿는데, 그건 제가 그 분을 역사를 보았기 때문이에요. 하지만 이렇게 말하먄 사람들이 이렇게 반응하죠. '글쎄, 그건 네 믿음이잖아'. '넌 그저 하나님이 있다는 믿음을 가진 거라고' 

 

But honestly, I would have to have more faith to be an atheist. Why? Because you believe in the concept that something came from nothing. 

근데 솔직히, 무신론자가 되려면 더 믿음이 좋아야할 것 같아요. 왠지 아세요? 왜냐면 무신론자들은 '아무것도 없는 것에서 뭔가가 나왔다'는 개념을 믿으니까요!  

 

I don't sit here in my room petrified that some lion is just gonna pop into existence and then devour me. Things don't just come into existence from nothing with a cause. 

저는 난데없이 제 방에 사자가 '짜잔'하고 나타나서 저를 잡아먹을 거라고 생각하진 않거든요. 사물은 이유없이 그냥 존재하지 않습니다. 

 

The universe hasn't always existed. It had a beginning. And if it had a beginning, it had a beginner and that beginner was God. 

우주가 항상 존재했던 것은 아닙니다. 그 시작이 있었습니다. 우주에 시작이 있었다면, '시작한 분'이 있다는 것이고, 그가 바로 하나님인 것이죠.
