My fellow Americans, I want to speak to you tonight about the troubling of events of the past week.

미국 국민 여러분, 저는 오늘밤 여러분에게 지난 한 주간 일어난 사건들에 대해 말씀드리고 싶습니다.

As I have said the incursion of the U.S Capitol struck at the very heart of our Republic. It angered and appalled millions of Americans across the political spectrum.

제가 말씀드렸듯, 미국 국회의사당으로의 침입은 우리 공화국의 심장부를 강타한 것입니다. 그것은 정치를 뛰어넘어 수백만명의 미국인들을 화나고 경악하게 만들었습니다.

I want to be very clear. I unequivocally condemned the violence that we saw last week.

Violence and vandalism have absolutely no place in our Country and no place in our movement.

Making America Great Again has always been about defending the rule of law supporting the men and women of law enforcement and upholding our nation's most sacred traditions and values.

“미국을 다시 위대하게 만들자”는 운동은 항상 법치주의를 수호하며, 법을 집행하는 자들을 지지하고, 우리나라의 가장 신성한 전통과 가치를 옹호하는 것이었습니다.

Mob violence goes against everything I believe in and everything our movement stands for. No true supporter of mind could ever endorse political violence. No true supporter of mine could ever disrespect law enforcement or our great American flag. No true supporter of mind could ever threaten or harass their fellow Americans.

집단 폭력은 제가 믿는 모든 것과 우리의 운동이 지지하는 모든 것에 위배되는 것입니다. 저의 진정한 서포터들은 결코 정치적 폭력을 지지할 수 없습니다. 저의 진정한 지지자는 결코 법집행이나 미국의 위대한 국기를 존중하지 않을 수 없습니다. 저의 진정한 지지자는 결코 그들의 이웃 미국인을 위협하거나 괴롭힐 수 없는 것입니다.

If you do any of these things, you are not supporting our movement. You are attacking it and you are attacking our Country. We cannot tolerate it.

만약 여러분이 이런 것을 한다면, 여러분은 우리의 운동을 지지하는 것이 아니라, 그것을 공격하는 것입니다. 그것은 우리 나라를 공격하는 것입니다. 우리는 그것을 용인할 수 없습니다.

Tragically over the course of the past year, made so difficult because of COVID 19. We have seen political violence spiral out of control. We have seen too many riots, too many mobs too, many acts of intimidation and destruction. It must stop.

Whether you are on the right or on the left a democrat or a republican, there is never a justification for violence. No excuses, no exceptions America is a nation of laws.

Those who engaged in the attacks last week will be brought to justice. Now I am asking everyone who has ever believed in our agenda to be thinking of ways to ease tensions, calm tempers and help to promote peace in our country.

지난주 공격에 가담한 사람들은 법의 심판을 받게 될 것입니다. 이제 저는 우리의 아젠다를 믿어온 모든 사람들에게 긴장을 완화하고, 화를 진정시키고, 우리 나라의 평화를 증진시키는 데 도움을 주는 방법들을 생각하자는 부탁을 드립니다.

There has been reporting that additional demonstrations are being planned in the coming days both here in Washington and across the country.

추가적인 시위가 이곳 워싱턴과 미국 전역에서 앞으로 며칠 동안 계획되고 있다는 보고가 있었습니다.

I have been briefed by the US Secret service on the potential threats. Every American deserves to have their voice heard in a respectful and peaceful way. That is your First Amendment right, but I cannot emphasize that there must be no violence, no law breaking and no vandalism of any kind.

Everyone must follow our laws and obey the instructions of law enforcement. I have directed federal agencies to use all necessary resources to maintain order. In Washington DC, we are bringing in thousands of National Guard members to secure the city and ensure that a transition can occur safely and without incident.

모든 사람은 우리의 법을 따르고 법 집행의 지시에 따라야만 합니다. 저는 연방 기관들에게 질서를 유지하기 위해 필요한 모든 자원을 사용하라고 지시했습니다. 워싱턴 DC에서 우리는 수천 명의 주방위군을 파견하여 도시를 안전하게 보호하고, 무사히 이양이 이루어질 수 있도록 하고 있습니다.

Like all of you, I was shocked and deeply saddened by the calamity at the Capitol last week. I want to thank the hundreds of millions of incredible American citizens who have responded to this moment with calm, moderation and grace.

여러분 모두와 마찬가지로, 저도 지난주 국회 의사당에서 일어난 재난에 대해 충격을 받고, 깊은 슬픔에 잠겼었습니다. 저는 이 순간에도 침착하고, 절제하며, 품위 있게 대응해 주시는 수억 명의 미국 시민 여러분께 감사를 드리고 싶습니다.

We will get through this challenge just like we always do. I also want to say a few words about the unprecedented assault on free speech we have seen in recent days. These are tense and difficult times. The efforts to censor cancel and blacklist our fellow citizens are wrong and they are dangerous. What is needed now is for us to listen to one another, not to silence one another. All of us can choose by our actions to rise above the rancor and find common ground and shared purpose.

우리는 항상 그러하듯, 이 도전을 이겨낼 것입니다. 저는 또한 최근 며칠간 우리가 본 전례 없는 ‘표현의 자유’에 대한 공격에 대해 말씀드리고 싶습니다. 지금은 긴박하고 어려운 시기입니다. 우리의 시민들을 검열하고 캔슬하고 블랙리스트에 올리려는 시도는 잘못된 것이며, 그것들은 위험한 것입니다. 지금 필요한 것은, 우리가 서로의 말을 경청하는 것이지, 침묵시키는 것이 아닙니다. 우리 모두는 악감정을 극복하고, 합의와 공유된 목적을 찾기 위한 우리의 행동으로 선택할 수 있습니다.

We must focus on advancing the interests of the whole nation delivering the miracle vaccines, defeating the pandemic, rebuilding the economy, protecting our national security and upholding the rule of law.

우리는 이 기적의 백신을 전달하고, 전염병을 물리치고, 경제를 재건하고, 국가 안보를 보호하고, 법치를 수호하며 국가 전체의 이익을 증진시키는 데에 집중해야만 합니다.

Today I am calling on all Americans to overcome the passions of the moment and join together as one American people. Let us choose to move forward united for the good of our families, our communities and our country. Thank you, God bless you and God bless America.
