I want to begin by thanking all of the incredible medical professionals, the doctors, the nurses, everybody, at Walter Reed medical center. I think it’s the finest in the world, for the incredible job they’ve been doing. I came here, wasn’t feeling so well, I feel much better now. We’re working hard to get me all the way back. I have to be back, because we still have to make America great again. We’ve done an awfully good job of that, but we still have steps to go and we have to finish that job.

먼저 월터리드 의료센터의 모든 놀라운 의료 전문가들, 의사들, 간호사들, 모든 분들께 감사를 드리고 싶습니다. 저는 이 곳이 세계에서 가장 훌륭한 병원이라고 생각합니다. 그들이 지금까지 해 온 놀라운 치료를 보자면 말이죠. 제가 여기 왔을 때, 몸이 완전 좋지는 않았었는데.. 지금은 훨씬 많이 좋아졌습니다. 제가 다시 복귀할 수 있도록 이 분들이 열심히 일하고 계십니다. 저는 반드시 돌아가야 합니다. 왜냐하면 우리는 여전히 미국을 다시 위대하게 만들어야 하기 때문입니다. 우리는 그 일을 아주 잘 해냈지만, 아직 가야 할 단계가 있으며, 그 일을 끝내야만 합니다.

And I’ll be back, I think I’ll be back soon, and I look forward to finishing up the campaign the way it was started and the way we’ve been doing and the kind of numbers that we’ve been doing. We’ve been so proud of it. But this was something that happened, and it’s happened to millions of people all over the world, and I’m fighting for them. Not just in the US, I’m fighting for them all over the world. We’re going to beat this coronavirus, or whatever you want to call it, and we’re going to beat it soundly.

저는 다시 돌아갈 것입니다. 곧 복귀할 거라 생각합니다. 그리고 우리가 캠페인을 시작했던 방식과 우리가 해오던 방식으로, 우리가 이뤄온 그 성과와 함께 이 일들을 마무리 짓기를 기대합니다. 우리는 우리가 이룬 성과에 대해 매우 자랑스럽습니다. 그런데 이런 일이 발생했고, 그리고 전 세계 수백만 명의 사람들에게 일어났으며, 저는 바로 그들을 위해 싸우고 있습니다. 단지 미국만을 위해서가 아닌, 저는 전 세계에 있는 코로나 환자들을 위해 싸우고 있습니다. 우리는 이 코로나바이러스를 극복할 것이고, 그걸 뭐라고 부르던 말이죠.. 그것을 철저하게 박멸시킬 것입니다.

So many things have happened. If you look at the therapeutics, which I’m taking right now, some of them, and others are coming out soon that are looking like – frankly, they’re miracles if you want to know the truth. They’re miracles. People criticize me when I say that, but we have things happening that look like they’re miracles coming down from God.

정말 많은 일들이 일어났습니다. 지금 제가 받고 있는 치료법들을 보면, 그 중 몇 가지 치료법은.. 그리고 다른 치료법들도 나올 것인데.. 솔직히 말해.. 여러분들이 진실을 알고 싶다면, 이 치료법들은 정말 기적과 같다는 겁니다. 정말 기적 같은 치료법입니다. 사람들은 제가 이렇게 말하면 저를 비난하겠지요. 하지만 우리는 마치 하나님이 내려주신 기적과 같은 일들을 경험하고 있습니다.

I just want to tell you that I’m starting to feel good. You don’t know over the next period of a few days, I guess that’s the real test, so we’ll be seeing what happens over those next couple of days. I just want to be so thankful for all of the support I’ve seen, whether it’s on television or reading about it. I most of all appreciate what’s been said by the American people, by almost a bipartisan consensus of the American people. It’s a beautiful thing to see and I very much appreciate it and I won’t forget it. I promise you that.

기분이 좋아지기 시작했다고 말씀드리고 싶었습니다.  여러분들은 모를겁니다. 다음 며칠동안을 말이죠. 제 생각엔 그것이 진짜 테스트가 될 것 같네요. 따라서 우리는 향후 며칠에 걸쳐 어떤 일들이 벌어지는 지를 보게 될 것입니다. 제가 TV에서 보았든, 어디에서 읽었든 그러한 여러분들이 보내주신 모든 지지에 정말 감사하다는 말씀을 드리고 싶을 뿐입니다. 저는 무엇보다도 미국 국민들의 지지, 당을 초월한 거의 모든 미국인들의 지지에 정말 감사를 드립니다. 정말로 보기에 아름다운 장면이며, 저는 정말로 매우 감사를 드립니다. 이러한 지지를 결코 잊지 않을 것이며, 여러분께 약속드립니다.

I also want to thank the leaders of the world for their condolences and their – they know what we’re going through. They know what, as your leader, what I have to go through.

저는 또한 세계의 지도자들이 보내주신 애도에 감사를 드리고 싶으며.. 그 분들은 지금 우리가 겪고 있는 이 일이 무엇인지 알고 있습니다. 세계의 지도자들은, 리더로서.. 제가 겪어야 할 일들을 잘 알고 있습니다.

But I had no choice because I just didn’t want to stay in the White House. I was given that alternative. Stay in the White House, lock yourself in, don’t ever leave, don’t even go to the Oval Office, just stay upstairs and enjoy it, don’t see people, don’t talk to people and just be done with it and I can’t do that. I had to be out front and – this is America, this is the United States, this is the greatest country in the world, this is the most powerful country in the world. I can’t be locked up in a room upstairs and totally safe and just say: ‘Hey, whatever happens happens.’ I can’t do that. We have to confront problems. As a leader you have to confront problems. There’s never been a great leader that would have done that.

하지만 저는 어쩔수 없었습니다. 백악관에 머물고 싶지 않았기 때문입니다. 저에게 그 대안이 주어졌습니다. 백악관에만 머물며, 스스로를 가두고, 절대 다른곳에 못가며, 심지어 집무실에도 못가고, 오로지 위층에만 머물며, 사람들을 볼 수 없으며, 사람들과 대화할 수 없는.. 그렇게 해야만 하는 것. 저는 그럴 수 없습니다. 저는 앞에 나서야 했습니다.. 여기는 미국이고, 여기는 세계에서 가장 위대한 나라, 이 나라는 세계에서 가장 강력한 나라입니다. 그냥 위층에 있는 방에 갇혀서 안전하게 '이봐, 어차피 일어날 일은 일어난다구'라고 말하는 것.. 저는 그렇게는 못합니다. 우리는 우리의 문제들에 맞서야 합니다. 지도자로서, 여러분은 문제에 직면해야만 합니다. 그렇게 할만한 위대한 지도자는 한 번도 없었습니다.

So that’s where it is. I’m doing well. I want to thank everybody. Our first lady is doing very well. And Melania asked me to say something as to the respect that she has for our country, the love that she has for our country. And we’re both doing well. Melania is really handling it very nicely. As you’ve probably read, she’s slightly younger than me, just a little tiny bit, and therefore, just, we know the disease, we know the situation with age versus younger people. And Melania is handling it statistically like it’s supposed to be handled. And that makes me very happy, and it makes the country very happy. But I’m also doing well and I think we’re going to have a very good result. Again, over the next few days we’re going to probably know for sure. So I just want to thank everybody out there, everybody, all over the world, specifically the United States. The outpouring of love has been incredible. I will never forget. Thank you very much.

그래서 상황을 말씀드리면.. 저는 잘 지내고 있습니다. 모두에게 감사드리고 싶습니다. 우리 영부인께서도 아주 잘 지내고 계시고요. 멜라니아가 제게 ‘우리나라에 대한 존경심과 우리나라에 대해 사랑한다’고 한마디 해 달라고 부탁했습니다. 저희 둘 다 잘 지내고 있습니다. 멜라니아는 정말 잘 대처하고 있습니다. 여러분이 아마 아시겠지만, 그녀는 저보다 좀 어립니다. 아주 조금 말이죠. 그래서 우리는 이 병을 잘 알고 있습니다. 우리는 이 질병이 연령과 젊은사람들에 대한 상황에 대해 알고 있습니다. 그래서 멜라니아는 그 연령대에 맞게 잘 견디고 있습니다. 그런 모습이 저를 기쁘게 하고, 우리나라를 기쁘게 합니다. 저 역시 매우 잘 지내고 있으며, 곧 매우 좋은 결과가 나올 것 같습니다. 다시 말씀드리지만, 앞으로 며칠내 분명히 알게 될 것입니다. 밖에 계시는 모든 분들, 전세계의 모든 분들, 특히 미국 국민들에게 감사를 드리고 싶습니다. 이 넘치는 사람은 정말 믿을 수 없을 정도로 대단했습니다. 저는 결코 잊지 않을 것입니다. 정말 감사드립니다.
