Ah, Kayleigh. You know, previous life, before you were press secretary, you worked for the campaign and you made a comment. I believe on Fox in which you said.

아 케일리, 전에 언론비서로 일하셨을 때 말입니다. 당신이 캠프에서 일했을 때, 이런 말을 했더군요.  폭스뉴스인 것 같은데.

 

‘President Trump will not allow the coronavirus to come to this country.’

‘트럼프 대통령은 이 나라에 코로나바이러스가 확산되는 것을 허락하지 않을 겁니다’ 라고요. 

 

Given what has happened since then obviously. Would you like to take that back?

그 이후 명백히 코로나바이러스가 확산되었습니다. 그때 말씀하신 것에 대해 정정해 주시겠습니까?

 

Well, first let me note I was asked a question on Fox Business about president’s travel restrictions.

음, 먼저 이것을 말씀드리고 싶네요. 그때 저는 폭스 비즈니스 채널에서 대통령의 여행 제한정책에 대해 질문을 받고 있었습니다.

 

I noted what was the intent behind those travel restrictions which is we will not see the coronavirus come here. We will not see terrorism come here referring to an earlier set of travel restrictions.

저는 그 당시 그 여행 제한정책에 대한 설명으로서 ‘코로나바이러스가 미국에 들어오지 않게 할거다’라고 말한것이었어요. 우리가 이전에 여행제한을 했을때도, ‘테러가 여기서 발생하지 않게 여행제한을 할거다’라고 말하곤 했잖아요. 바로 그 뉘양스로 말이에요. 

 

I guess I would turn the question back on the media and similar questions,

그럼 저도 한 번 언론에게 묻고 싶습니다. 유사한 질문인데요. 

 

Does Vox want to take back that they proclaim that the coronavirus would not be a deadly pandemic?

복스께 묻습니다. ‘코로나바이러스는 그렇게 심각한 전염병이 아닐 것이다’라고 보도하신 것 번복하시겠습니까?

 

Does the Washington Post want to take back that they told Americans to get a grip the flu is bigger than the coronavirus?

워싱턴포스트께 묻습니다. ‘미국인들은 코로나바이러스 보다 플루에 더 신경 써야한다’라고 보도하신 것 번복하시겠습니까?

 

‘Does the Washington Post likewise want to take back that our brains are causing us to exaggerate the threats of the coronavirus?’,

마찬가지로 워싱턴포스트께 묻습니다. ‘우리의 뇌가 코로나바이러스의 위협에 대해 너무 과장되게 반응하는 것 같다’라고 보도하신 것 번복하시겠습니까?

 

‘Does the New York Times want to take back that fear of the virus may be spreading faster than the virus itself?’,

뉴욕타임즈께 묻습니다. ‘바이러스에 대한 공포가, 바이러스 자체보다 더 빨리 퍼진다 (그러니 너무 난리치지마라)’라고 보도하신 것, 번복하시겠습니까?

 

Does NPR want to take back that the flu was a much bigger threat than the coronavirus?

NPR입니다. ‘코로나바이러스보다 플루가 훨씬 더 큰 문제다’라고 보도하신 것, 번복하시겠습니까?

 

And finally, once again the Washington Post. ‘Would you like to take back that the government should not respond aggressively to the coronavirus?’

그리고 마지막으로, 다시 한번 워싱턴포스트입니다. ‘코로나바이러스에 대해서 너무 지나치게 반응해서는 안된다’라는 보도를 번복하시겠습니까?
